Tristan Prettyman – Awesome Singer Songwriter
I found out about Tristan a couple of days ago and checked out her music through her myspace page www.myspace.com/tristanprettyman and I was pretty impressed. Tristan is from San Diego she loves to surf and loves to sing. She will be on the cover of FOAM magazine in May for their Music Issue. She is on the cover because she combines her passion for surfing and music and really creates a special sound.
She is definitely "creating experiences that inspire confidence and motivation for women." She donated a song called "War Outta Peace" to the non-profit Bonneville Environmental Foundation [BEF], which has used it in a DVD demonstrating the benefits of renewable energy to the organization’s partners and supporters. Virgin Records connected Tristan with the BEF, which sells carbon-offsetting renewable energy certificates, called Green Tags, to replace traditional polluting sources of electricity with clean, secure, and renewable sources of energy that come from solar and wind power from across North America.
She's just really dedicated to her music, surfing, and the environment, and she tries to combine all three in everything that she does in her personal life and her professional life.
Press Release
SAN-DIEGOS OWN TRISTAN PRETTYMAN HITS THE ROAD SUPPORTING G. LOVE & SPECIAL SAUCE
AND KICKS OFF HER HEADLINER MARCH 19 APRIL 27.
Singer-songwriter and guitarist Tristan Prettyman has started her tour along with G. Love & Special Sauce in support of her new album entitled Hello. The album will be released April 15, 2008, on Virgin Records and is an appealing portrait of this freewheeling San Diego, CA, native as she narrates stories about her life, loves, and heartbreaks. I really wanted the album to be a reflection of me, Prettyman says. If someone were to say, Tell me about yourself, I would just hand them a copy of Hello and say, Here, this is everything you need to know.
Now with Hello, Prettyman says shes stepped it up a notch, chalking up the artistic leap between twentythree and Hello to the confidence that comes from incessant touring (we were able to record pretty much everything live because I had toured for so long) and just the passage of time. I have grown so much in the last two years, she says. Ive gone through so many changes and I think the album definitely reflects that. It's more grown-up, and it just feels legit. Ive never been more excited about anything in my life as I am with this record. It is so me. [Tristans songs are] salted with a bluesy defiance and her own throaty whisper, making these crank-up-the-volume choruses on songs like Madly all the tastier. Marie Claire.
Prettyman will be debuting her new single Madly on Last Call with Carson Daly March 18, and appearing on the May cover of Foam Magazine.
